Desert Fields

I don't know if I've ever mentioned it, but I am constantly amazed by the desert. One of the more amazing things, to me, is how fertile the desert can be if there is water. Our city is the Lettuce Capital of the world. Isn't that crazy? It is such a contrast to see the beautiful, neat rows of the fields against the backdrop of our desert mountains. All winter, the fields are filled with vegetables. I've wanted to photograph them ever since we moved here, and I finally took the time to do it. One evening, I packed everybody into the van and just drove around looking for fields being harvested. The kids patiently sat in the van, listening to Odyssey, while I snapped pictures. The next day when we got in the van, Braden asked, "Mom, are we going somewhere, or just driving around again?" Some day he will appreciate looking at these pictures; they will remind him of a place that was his home for a while.

Splash Zone

Spring is here, but it feels more like summer. Don't get me wrong, we've had a few nice days, but they are quickly disappearing. Several weeks ago the boys thought it would be warm enough to swim, so they did. Crazy boys!

I thought they would hop in and hop out and that would be the end of it. But, no, it just made them more excited to swim more often. The truth is, it really isn't that warm, but okay.

As for me, this is exactly as far as I'm getting in until the water warms up a lot more.

Short but Sweet

We had more visitors last weekend- yay! (We love visitors!) Grandma and Grandpa stopped in on their way home from California. Even though it was short we had a great time. Fiona got lots of cuddle time with Grandma, which she just soaked right up. The boys got to play lots of games and hear Grandpa tell silly jokes. You know that one about the talking dog? Then on Sunday we got an extra special treat of hearing Grandpa preach at church. It went by fast, but we're looking forward to another visit very soon.
