Our family excitedly welcomes the newest addition, a little neice, Abigail Violet! She was so excited to get here, she couldn't wait. She's a tiny peanut at 5lbs 12oz, but she's strong and healthy. We love you, sweet Vi, (and her Mommy & Daddy)! Praise God for His great gifts!

Yup, another online find, from a great little shop I discovered. I told you I was on a sewing kick. And I'm not even done yet. But I did finish the curtains for the boys' room. It's cute- they're so excited about them. While I was working they were hovering over me, watching. As I cut the fabric, Trevor observed that I was cutting the animals, and suggested that I apologize to each one. Sorry, Giraffe!

Lazy Daisy Days of Summer

I saw this fabric online, and instantly fell in love with it. Summer may be over on the calendar, but I think these cheerful valances in my living room will keep us thinking of summer all year round!

Pucker Up!

The way they tie into real life is just one of the things I love about unit studies! Last week we studied Lentil, which referenced the way that sucking on a lemon can cause another person to pucker-up. So we tried it out!

Today we had rice cakes, in honor of Ping the duck. They were a lot more popular than the lemon!

Go Sew Slow

I've been planning to try some free-motion quilting on my DSQ quilt. I spent several hours today practicing on mini quilt sandwiches.






Nevertheless, while the kids watched Pinocchio, I listened to Mozart and spent some quality time with my good friend, the Pick n Rip. Yeah.

School Days

After weeks of anticipation, and Trevor asking , "When's do we get to start school, Mom??" We finally started. And I'm proud to say that we all survived. Not only did we survive, but we had a great time. We were both up early this morning, ready to do it all over again. If we can only keep this enthusiasm for the rest of the year! Braden was only slightly less excited, and was glad to be able to wander off whenever he was bored with our activities. We'll be sure to keep you updated as we go along!

Late Summer Bounty

A couple of weeks ago I put up 18 pints of jam. About half of those were my Grandma Ring's recipe for Blueberry-Rhubarb jam. Mmm... so good! I've converted many a "rhubarb hater" with that jam! The other half was my first try at peach jam: also really good! Between those 18 pints and the strawberry jam that I put up last spring, I was hoping we'd make it all year. I don't know, though, we've already finished a jar of each! Oh well, maybe in january I will try some marmalade from our local oranges.
