Splash Zone

Spring is here, but it feels more like summer. Don't get me wrong, we've had a few nice days, but they are quickly disappearing. Several weeks ago the boys thought it would be warm enough to swim, so they did. Crazy boys!

I thought they would hop in and hop out and that would be the end of it. But, no, it just made them more excited to swim more often. The truth is, it really isn't that warm, but okay.

As for me, this is exactly as far as I'm getting in until the water warms up a lot more.

Winter Wonder

We just got back from our trip out to Virginia. We had a wonderful time being with family and doing things that we just don't get to do at home. Trevor and Braden had been hoping for weeks to see some snow on our trip, and what do you know? We saw some! A lot, actually! When we woke up on saturday, it was snowing lightly. Trevor told me, "Mommy, I prayed to God for snow, and it's snowing!"

Well, the weatherman predicted a dusting, but it ended up snowing all day, leaving more than enough for a snowman...or two...or three... even if the grass did start to peek through.

And after the snow family was built, there was plenty more left over for a good snowball fight. I had to be careful not to get caught in the cross fire. Snowballs went flying with no regard for age, size or expensive cameras.

No children were harmed during the making of this blog post.

Rainy Day

Let the rain kiss you

Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops

Let the rain sing you a lullaby

The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk

The rain makes running pools in the gutter

The rain plays a little sleep-song on our roof at night-

And I love the rain

Spring is Past

Summer is here. I know this will be difficult for some of you to believe. You may be currently or recently snow-bound. But let me assure you...Summer is here. The mercury reached 100 degrees yesterday. Our overnight low was 75. I guess I can officially say that I went the entire winter without running the heat! (Don't think that I am bragging, I'm just looking for the silver lining.) These beauties are certainly welcome to my garden- maybe they will bring some hummingbirds!

Mach 3

Is my hair on fire?? I feel like we've gone from zero to 100,000 in 2.8 seconds. Three weeks ago we had absolutely no commitments, nothing to do. It drove us crazy for the first two months, but then we really got used to it. Now we've got soccer three times a week, Cubbies, Ladies' morning bible study, evening small group bible study, plus play dates and adult dates. We hardly have a day unscheduled. When did all this happen? It's great, don't get me wrong. I'm so thankful for the new connections we're making in our church and our community. We're just not used to it yet. I'm going to have to start scheduling in free time. The weather is warming up, and I want to save lots more time for doing things like this...

Notice something missing?

"Hmmmm....something feels not quite right. It's like there's something missing. I can't quite put my finger on it. Wait a minute, there is something missing. What happened to my mountains?" That's exactly what I thought when I went outside the other afternoon. While everyone else was having snow- my sister in MI had 5 inches, my parents had a dusting in VA and even my old neighborhood in NC had flurries- our skies were full of something a little different. Dust. So before I ran inside to shut all the windows, I snapped this picture. As the crow flies, those mountains are only a few miles away. So this dust was pretty thick. The bad news is that I didn't realize what had been happening, so by the time I got all the windows shut I already had a little layer of desert sand on everything in my house. Here's your investment tip for today- dump your whole portfolio into Endust stock. My usage alone is going to make it sky-rocket! Oh, just for reference, this is what my view is supposed to look like.
