The Fight for Our Children

I do not consider myself an alarmist. In fact, I think I'm a bit of a skeptic. So when my husband told me there was a news story about sex education for 5 year olds, I was very skeptical. What do you think? What would you say if your child's kindergarten curriculum included sex education? Far fetched?? I wish it was.

Wednesday, Fox News online ran this story: U.N. Report Advocates Teaching Masturbation to 5-Year-Olds. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. This past July, Everett and I attended a conference that alerted us to the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child. I was shocked by what they told us: if the US ratified this treaty, it would supersede US state laws concerning children, it would supersede parental decisions concerning their own children. Decisions about discipline, religion, worldview, health care (read reproductive health- or possibly you remember the recent news story about the boy who didn't want anymore chemotherapy, and was ordered by the courts to undergo the treatment) Decisions made by loving, caring parents. They think they can do a better job at parenting my children that me? I, who have prayed over them, rocked them, kissed them, cried for them, laughed with them. Maybe I've been living under a rock for the past few years (I have been pretty busy, I guess), but why had I never heard of this treaty before? I wracked my brain trying to make connections with information I had heard somewhere else, and I came up with nothing. It was alarming to me that something this serious could be cooking without my knowledge. Why isn't anyone talking about this? Isn't anyone else outraged that this is even being considered by our government? More than being considered it is being actively sought by President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton, as well as several leading senators.

Is anyone else concerned yet? If you think this isn't all that serious, or that it will never happen in America, I urge you to go to ParentalRights.org. They are an organization fighting for a constitutional amendment to protect the rights of parents and to protect the God-instituted parent-child relationship. They have a wealth of information concerning the content of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child. Please get informed on this issue. Even if you just take a few minutes- I think you'll find it is compelling reading. It is vital for the well-being of our children. The ostrich buries his head in the sand- but we just can't afford to do that anymore.

Wow, that is unbelievable! Thanks for raising eveyone's awareness of this. You couldn't make up a story like this. It seems that more and more of these laws/treaties that are meant to "protect us" actually take away our rights. Morality is definitely under attack. Things are so mixed up people don't even realize these things are wrong.

It is hard to believe that in my lifetime we have come so far down the road of degradation. What an absolutely horrifying idea--and since when is the UN in charge of our laws. These things seem to happen under the table when none of us is looking!! Mom
